POAM has been notified that the final report will be issued sometime the week of July 10th. Once the report is issued, it will be put up on the POAM website for your review.
Update 7/13: We are being told that the report will be published on the 18th.
Update 7/14: We’ve received a memo from the Governor’s office, providing an update on the report:
Dear Task Force Members,
Thank you for your participation in the Responsible Retirement Reform for Local Government Task Force over the last 6 months. We appreciate your efforts and commitment to helping to find solutions to the growing unfunded pension and retiree health care liabilities facing our communities. As we discussed in detail, without intervention and a collaborative solution these liabilities will jeopardize the quality of life and delivery of essential services in our communities and create instability for the retirees and employees who depend on these benefits. We expect this report to be a solid first step in a continuing dialogue to find solutions to this growing problem and look forward to your continued input.
The final version of the report agreed to by the Task Force will be delivered to Governor Snyder today. A copy will be shared with the Speaker and Senate Majority Leader on Monday of next week.
So that you can prepare your respective organizational statements regarding the report upon release, please note the administration plans to release the report next Tuesday, July 18th. We ask for your confidentiality of this report until this time. We are preparing a press release and an infographic that will be released with the report as well, and will share those documents with you Monday afternoon.
We look forward to working with all of you and the Michigan Legislature in the coming months and year to find solutions to this important issue.
