hONORING Mark Zacks

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of a true fighter, Mark Zacks. On April 20th, Mark succumbed to his tough battle with cancer.
Mark’s Life
Mark served the Police Officers Association of Michigan in countless ways, providing many services to our members. From serving as a Secretary, Business Agent, and an Executive Board member (2001-2018), Mark loved aggressively advocating for both his membership and other POAM members. Before laboring for our members’ union laws, Mark served as a Walled Lake police officer from 1988-1994. He, then, was appointed the President of the Southfield Police Officers Association for 14 years.
Mark enjoyed taking road trips on his motorcycle and vacationing at warm weather destinations. For that reason, the Marks family relocated to the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area in December 2017. This move allowed Mark to start a new career after retiring from police work in Michigan, be closer to friends, and soak up the sun year-around. Mark relished quality time with his daughters. He always was in the company of friends that will never forget his loyalty and straightforwardness.
Celebratory Arrangements
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Shield’s Pizza (25101 Telegraph Rd, Southfield, MI 48034) on June 8th from 6-10 p.m. Food will be served, and there will also be a cash bar available. Come and share stories, laughter, tears, and hugs with family and friends.
Thoughts & Prayers
Mark will definitely be missed. The Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) sends our condolences to his wife, Tracey, children, family, and friends.
At this time, arrangements are pending. Once we receive additional information, we will update this post. Remember to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
