Last September, Patrick O’Rourke, a West Bloomfield Police Officer, tragically lost his life in the line of duty leaving behind his wife Amy and their four children.

At a memorial service for her husband, Amy met Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel. They met again a few days later and Bill, though he’d never met Patrick O’Rourke, felt a deep need to express feelings that he had about O’Rourke and the family he left behind. In this interview with Darci Day from WCXI Classic Country and More below, Amy and Bill tell the story of how Bill composed the song “I Am The Werewolf” as a tribute to Patrick O’Rourke, and all the officers who must regularly become something that’s “stronger and edgier” in order to protect civilians.
