Jeff Malone Writes Touching Story About Mark

Mark Zacks,

For as long as I can remember, you’ve been that one true friend that you’re lucky enough to still have from childhood. A friend you know you can count on, no matter what. Like my mom used to say, “If you have more than two true friends, then you’re truly blessed.” We’ve always stayed in contact, but sometimes life got in the way.

I’ve been living in Fort Lauderdale since 1994. Even though Mark lived in Michigan, we always remained true friends and got together every chance we could. Mark told me that him and his wife, Tracey, were moving down to Fort Lauderdale, and I was filled with joy that one of my best friends would only live 6 miles from me!

They officially moved to the Sunshine State in December 2017, after Mark retired as a police officer with 30 years in the Walled Lake and Southfield departments; Mark is also a former POAM representative. Both Mark and Tracey found new employment soon after relocating.

Fast forward to this year, I sent Mark a text message on Saturday afternoon, June 16th. I soon received a reply from Tracey saying,”Hey, this is Tracey. Can you talk?” I knew before I responded that something was wrong. She released the news that Mark had been in the hospital for 5 days and was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a blood and bone marrow cancer. My jaw dropped, and I could not believe what I was hearing.

Mark was released from the hospital that Saturday and the whole scenario extremely bothered me. I lost my 46-year-old mother to breast cancer when I was 18 years old. So, I kept thinking what can I do to help out Mark. It replayed in my head, and I kept asking “Why? What can I do to help my dear friend?”

Then it finally hit me that the stress of this all on Mark, his wife and family is going to be a huge financial burden with his medical expenses and his family having to fly back and forth from Michigan to Florida. That’s when I decided to create this GoFundMe page to reduce the family’s stress. Mark and Tracey having to take time off of their new jobs and recently starting their new chapter in Florida make this an even more difficult and inconvenient time.

So, here it is! I just want to help my one of my best friends. I ask for prayers and donations to support him at this time. I am praying, and I have donated first. Everyone I know and talk to is praying for Mark and his family. I pray his treatment kicks this thing’s a** back to where it came from.

All donations will go directly to Mark and Tracey to reduce the medical bills and expenses, or whatever else they need the funds for. I am not the gatekeeper, just the messenger. I hope you will contribute, even if it’s $5! If not, your thoughts and prayers are most welcome.

Thank you for reading my post, if you made it this far through my story! Mark deserves our support!

All of my best to you and yours. With a little help, we can make a difference!
