We have received a preliminary report on all law enforcement fatalities from 2017. According to data compiled by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial fund, as of December 28, 2017, 128 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty this year. This number has decreased by 10% over the 143 officers killed in 2016.

May they all rest in peace. Our hearts are with their families and loved ones. Each and every one of your sacrifices is felt deeply throughout the law enforcement community. We are always with you.

I was just reading this “2017 Law Enforcement Fatalities Report”
There is a misprint I wanted to point out, an attempt to help, this sentence is right in the 2nd spot but wrong in the first…
“…According to data compiled by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial fund, as of December 28, 2017, 128 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty this year. This number has decreased by 10% over the 142 officers killed in 2017.”
Both statistics have 2017 as the period of time. The full four page report says this, which I believe is correct…
“…as of December 28, 2017, 128 federal, state, and local law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty this year, decreasing 10% over the 143 officers killed in 2016.
The other misprint is in the action number of officers killed which in one spot says 142, and in the other spot 143.
Anyway, trying to be helpful, I hope the future numbers are all 0. Good luck!
