The COPS Office is pleased to announce that four Fiscal Year 2017 grant funding opportunities are now open and accepting applications.  More information on each of the four grant programs is below for your review.

COPS Hiring Program (CHP)

The 2017 COPS Hiring Program is a competitive grant program that helps local law enforcement hire additional community policing officers. The grant program provides funds directly to state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies to hire and/or rehire career law enforcement officers to increase their community policing capacity and crime prevention efforts.

Applications are due by July 10, 2017 at 7:59 PM EDT.

Community Policing Development (CPD) Program

The 2017 Community Policing Development Program is a competitive grant program designed to advance the practice of community policing in law enforcement agencies through training and technical assistance, the development of innovative community policing strategies, applied research, guidebooks, and best practices that are national in scope.  The COPS Office, a federal provider of innovative, customer-focused resources that address the continuing and emerging needs of those engaged in enhancing public safety through community policing, has designed the CPD solicitation to address critical topics in the law enforcement field by building on the principles of community policing. The CPD solicitation will also encompass the Preparing for Active Shooter Situations (PASS) program, which is designed to increase law enforcement and public safety by providing funds for scenario-based training that prepares officers and other first responders to safely and effectively handle active-shooter and other violent threats.

Applications are due by June 23, 2017 at 7:59 PM EDT.

COPS Anti-Heroin Task Force (AHTF) Program

The 2017 Anti-Heroin Task Force Program is a competitive grant program that assists state law enforcement agencies in states with high per capita levels of primary treatment admissions for both heroin and other opioids.  AHTF funds shall be used for investigative purposes to locate or investigate illicit activities related to the distribution of heroin or unlawful distribution of prescription opioids.

COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP)

The 2017 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program is a competitive grant program that advances public safety by providing funds directly to state law enforcement agencies to investigate illicit activities related to the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine.

Applications are due by July 10, 2017 at 7:59 PM EDT.
