2020 Annual Convention Updates

Update on Tuesday, March 24th
With the reality we all are currently facing, it is with deep sadness to announce POAM’s decision to postpone the 2020 Annual Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our President, Jim Tignanelli, addresses this situation by sharing some of the histories of the POAM Annual Convention.

Update on Monday, March 16th
Dear members and friends, the limitations being imposed on everyone as a response to the COVID-19 virus seem to be changing several times per day. By the time you receive this note, there may be even more changes. Our office and servicing reps are getting lots of questions regarding the 2020 POAM Convention in Grand Rapids.
As of this moment, we are proceeding towards May 20-22 in the usual manner. Mailings are going out, presentations are being prepared, and rooms are being reserved. We will continue to monitor announcements from the government(s) and the Amway Grand Hotel. If something occurs which forces a change in plans, we will post it on POAM.net and the POAM Mobile App as soon as we can. This is as good of a reason as any to download the POAM app. Do so today! Register your personal email and allow for “push notifications.” This way, you will be alerted to the message immediately.
For those of you who generally visit us in Washington D.C. during police week, I would suggest the above narrative applies there as well.

It’s time to make plans to attend the 2020 Annual Convention at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapid, Michigan. Join the Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) on May 20-22th (new date TBA) for a weekend of professional networking, entertainment, and a great time. We’re excited to host and see you again; this post will include booking information, the itinerary agenda, and imperative notifications.
Agenda
- Wednesday: Afternoon seminar, followed by an evening Poker Run, Craft Beer, or Cigar Smoke
- Thursday: Noon business meeting (business attire required) and cocktail reception
- Friday: Morning golf tournament

Reservations & Booking
The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is reserving a block of room at a rate of $148 for a double room per person, per day for POAM members. Book online by visiting our dedicated booking website. Guests are able to make, modify, and cancel hotel reservations online, as well as take advantage of any room upgrades, amenities, or other services offered by the hotel. Additionally, watch the mail, our website, and social media channels for further updates.
