On August 5, US Army veteran Wade Michael Page shot 10 people, killing six, at a Sikh temple in  Oak Creek, Wisconsin. One of those shot was a 51-year-old Oak Creek Police Officer.

Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards told the Associated Press that the gunman ambushed the officer outside the temple. Page was later shot by another officer after they exchanged gunshots.

The injured officer remains hospitalized in critical condition, but is expected to recover. Edwards also said the officer waved off other officers who tried to help him after he was shot and told them to go after the gunman.

Everyone here at the Police Officers Association of Michigan is holding the injured Oak Creek officer in our thoughts and prayers.
