Each year, during National Police Week, POAM President Jim Tignanelli pays a visit to wounded United States servicemen and women at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The reason he does this is because of his immense respect for the jobs these men and women do each and every day. Just like the law enforcement officers protecting our citizens in their communities, US military soldiers are protecting our citizens overseas, and for that, they should be commended.

US ServicemenSince 2001, more than 50,000 men and women have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. That figure is from Feb. 5, 2013, which could rise throughout the rest of this year. This is why Jim makes an active effort with the Walter Reed Benevolent Donation Drive to give some of these wounded soldiers some help. That help usually comes in the form of a gift bag filled with DVDs, T-shirts, boxer shorts and much more. The donation drive runs through April 30 and if you can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Please head to the Walter Reed Donation Drive to learn more about how you can donate to this great cause.
