The Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) was recently recognized by the Michigan Legislative Consultants (MLC) for achieving a significant milestone: 40 years of outstanding legislative achievements.

MLC, a bipartisan government-relations and consulting firm, marked this occasion by presenting the award during a formal ceremony where POAM leadership accepted on behalf of its membership. With MLC’s assistance, POAM’s influence in shaping policy has become a model for durable advocacy within Michigan’s legislative procurement ecosystem.

This award highlights POAM’s steadfast commitment to advocating on behalf of Michigan’s law-enforcement professionals and ensuring their voices are heard at the State Capitol.

Michigan Legislative Consultants

As one of the oldest lobbying firms in Michigan, MLC assists clients in navigating Michigan’s legislative, regulatory, and procurement processes. With more than 60 years of experience, MLC works with businesses, associations, and organizations to advocate for policy changes, secure government contracts, and build strategic relationships with key decision-makers.

Their services include legislative advocacy, procurement consulting, and strategic communications, all of which are focused on helping clients achieve measurable results and strengthen their presence in Michigan’s public and private sectors.

Looking Ahead

For over 40 years, POAM has worked closely with legislators, state agencies, and public safety stakeholders to shape important legislation, defend collective bargaining rights, and champion initiatives that strengthen the state’s criminal justice system. Through persistent advocacy and collaboration, POAM has helped ensure that the interests and safety of officers and the communities they serve remain a top priority in Lansing.

As POAM looks to its next decades of service, this award serves as both recognition of past accomplishments and a springboard into continued engagement and leadership in Michigan’s public-safety policy arena.
