WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR MICHIGAN SENATORS REGARDING HOUSE BILL 4152

On March 10, 2011, the House passed legislation that would amend the Public Employee Relations Act (PERA), and while doing so, have potentially impacted Compulsory Act 312 with drastic and negative consequences for law enforcement officers. HB 4152 modifies a significant provision pertaining to retroactivity, while POAM has been working desperately on legislative efforts to responsibly and meaningfully amend PA 312.

Public Act 312, in section 10, provides that an arbitration award, as to compensation and benefits, may be made retroactive. HB 4152 is in conflict with the Compulsory Arbitration Act and is a diabolical plot to strip police officers of their statutory rights.
