Kenneth Grabowski, Police Officer Association of Michigan Legislative Director and Executive Board member, will soon join the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards.

Grabowski has been POAM’s Legislative Director since 1992 and was appointed by Republican Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to serve a four-year term on the board. Grabowski served as a police officer in Redford for 13 years and also received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University.

The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards is a 17-member board and part of the Michigan Department of State Police. According to the Observer & Eccentric, the board’s primary responsibility is to set “measures for selection, employment, licensing and funding in public and private sector law enforcement and criminal justice.”

Grabowski joins Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski, of Mount Pleasant; Chief of the Frankenmouth Police Department Donald Mawer, of Frankenmouth; Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton, of Ypsilanti; and Petoskey Director of Public Safety John Calabrese of Petoskey.

Gov. Snyder said, “These appointees are experienced, outstanding law enforcement professionals. I am confident they will continue to promote and ensure Michigan’s public safety standards.”

All appointments are subject to the content and advice of the Michigan State Senate.
