The Michigan Law Enforcement Youth Advisory Committee (MLEYAC) is hosting a recruitment event on June 22, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at Fort Custer in Augusta, Michigan.

The MLEYAC comprises sworn law enforcement officers from across Michigan and is hosting a training academy for youth aged 14-20 interested in law enforcement. Youth participants are part of an explorer program and represent various departments across the state. The program is a week-long boot camp-style academy. Participants experience physical activity, military drills, water safety, interviewing skills, alcohol and drug awareness, gang awareness, domestic violence awareness, first aid, leadership, public speaking, life skills, and other team and character-building exercises. This program forges a foundation of responsibility, respect, and trust, benefitting the students, the law enforcement officers, and the community.
