About The Outing
Each year the Dearborn Police Officers Charities hold a benefit golf outing to remember our fallen officer, Lt. Doug Lowe. Lt. Doug Lowe was an integral part of the Dearborn Police Department and an active member in the community. When Lt. Doug Lowe passed away he left behind a family with three small children. The Lt. Doug Lowe Memorial Golf Outing was established to help the family of Lt. Doug Lowe and continue his mission of serving others. This year will mark the 15th anniversary of the Lt. Doug Lowe Memorial Golf Outing, and we are hoping to make this the best one yet.
Every year the proceeds gained from the Memorial Golf Outing are returned to the community served by the Dearborn Police Department. The proceeds gained from the charity auction go towards several local programs supported by the Dearborn Police Officers Charity, including our annual Shop with a Hero Program. During this program we team up with our local Firefighters to take low income and impoverished families from our community and allow them to shop with a Hero (Police Officer, Firefighter or Dispatcher) to give these children the happy holiday season they deserve. We do this same program again during back to school time, to provide these children with the essential school supplies to help them start off on the right foot for a new school year. During these two programs alone we help over 100 local families.
Additionally the Dearborn Police Officers Charities assist with providing aid to its members during times of significant loss and family tragedies, along with other public service members across the state of Michigan. The Dearborn Police Officers Charity also assists our other local charities including the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive, The Optimist Club, The Exchange Club, Local School Organizations and our Dearborn Police Department’s Explorers Post.
We are graciously asking for any donation that can be made by your organization to assist with the silent auction at this year’s golf outing to further the philanthropic mission of the Dearborn Police Officers Charity.
