Deputy Roberts was honored for his swift and selfless actions during a violent incident on September 21, 2024, in Superior Township, Michigan.

Deputy Roberts had just completed his shift and was on his way home when he heard a dispatch regarding an active felonious assault inside a vehicle on Geddes Road. Callers reported that a man was stabbing a female driver and had chased another individual who attempted to intervene.

Without hesitation, Deputy Roberts changed course and responded to the scene, arriving as the first deputy on location.
Upon arrival, he observed a 22-year-old suspect outside the vehicle, holding a 53-year-old woman at knifepoint. The victim had already sustained multiple injuries and remained in immediate danger.

Deputy Roberts issued repeated commands for the suspect to drop the knife. The suspect refused and remained an active threat. Moments later, he lunged and began running directly toward Deputy Roberts with the weapon still in hand.
Faced with an immediate and advancing threat, Deputy Roberts discharged his firearm, stopping the suspect and bringing the situation under control.

Following the incident, Deputy Roberts immediately began rendering aid to both the victim and the suspect. The victim survived her injuries, and the suspect was taken into custody and later faced charges.

Congratulations to Deputy Gregory Roberts

Deputy Roberts’ actions reflect the commitment carried by those who serve, even beyond the end of their shift. In a moment when he could have gone home, he chose to respond, protect, and act. Because of that decision, lives were saved, and a dangerous situation was brought to an end.
