Deputies Respond to Threat Against Law Enforcement

The trio responded to a “Be On the Lookout” alert for a subject out of Calhoun County who had threatened violence against law enforcement and was believed to be heavily armed.

Upon locating the suspect, the deputies pursued after the suspect refused to comply with a traffic stop. During the chase, he rammed at least one patrol vehicle and positioned himself to open fire on officers.

The pursuit ended in Roxand Township, where his vehicle became stuck in the snow. He then exited the car and fired on deputies with a semi-automatic handgun. In response, Lieutenant Dahlgren, Deputy Lane, and Deputy Studley acted decisively to return fire, stopping the threat and preventing further harm to the public.

Their actions not only neutralized a violent suspect who had terrorized his community but also likely saved lives in doing so.

POAM proudly recognizes their heroism, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting their community.
