Grand Blanc Police Officer Position Opening

The City of Grand Blanc Police Department is growing its team and currently has openings for Police Officer positions. The department serves just over 8,000 residents in under 4 square miles and maintains one of the lowest crime rates in Genesee County.

Job Description

The Police Officer position involves performing responsible law enforcement duties to maintain order within the City, regulate traffic, protect life and property, prevent crime, and quell civil disorder. Officers investigate crimes and conduct follow-up investigations on major cases, procuring and preserving evidence while preparing detailed reports on their assignments. They also attend seminars and training sessions as necessary and perform related duties as required.

An employee in this position may be required to perform any or all of the essential responsibilities, duties, and functions of a Police Officer as outlined in the job description.

Salary

The salary starts at $28.25/hour and can increase up to $38.14/hour after 4 years.

The City of Grand Blanc will honor prior experience as a full-time police officer with another agency for pay purposes. Once the officer has successfully completed the FTO program, the officer will be placed on the pay scale equal to their level of experience.

        Requirements

        To qualify for employment, the candidate must meet the following criteria before the interview:

        • Be a U.S. Citizen
        • Have a valid Driver’s License
        • An Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice ora  related field of study
        • Currently Certified or Certifiable, in accordance with the standards set by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES)
        • Live within, or be willing to relocate to, a 30-mile radius of the City of Grand Blanc’s borders within one year of hire.

        Those who do not meet the minimum qualifications will not be contacted for an interview.

        A series of oral examinations will be conducted for applicants who meet the minimum requirements. The interviews will be held at a time and place to be announced. They will evaluate the candidate’s personal characteristics, potential ability to perform the job, and the quality and relevance of their training and experience.

        Applicant(s) who have been chosen to advance in the process after the oral examinations will be required to pass an intensive background investigation, pre-employment physical, drug test, and psychological examinations.
