The Village of Holly Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the Full-Time Police Officer—School Resource Officer (SRO) Assignment position.

School Resource Officer Position

Job Description

  • Acts as the first line representative of the Village within the Holly Area School District to create and maintain a positive relationship with a diverse community through sound Community Policing principles.
  • Work 8-hour shifts performing school security and investigations of criminal activity.
  • Participates in investigating criminal law violations within the Village/school limits, obtaining evidence and compiling crime information, preparing cases for filing charges, testifying in court, and related activities.
  • Carries out duties conforming to Federal, State, County, and Village laws and ordinances while upholding the public’s constitutional rights.
  • This position requires substantial contact with the general public, school students, staff, and parents, court officials, and other Village officials in performing police operating activities, and other duties as required to work within an established SRO program as one of three SRO Officers.
  • Assigned to a patrol shift during off-school months.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must pass a post-offer departmental criminal, civil, and background investigation.
    • No felony convictions and/or disqualifying history.
  • Must pass a post-offer pre-employment physical, drug screen, and psychological examination.
  • Must be MCOLES licensed with previous licensed law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Must work well in a school setting with children and staff.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED, or honorable discharge from a United States Military Service branch.
  • Upon employment, you will be required to enter and complete all necessary training, including in-service training with the Holly Police Department and other schools to which the employee may be assigned, and trained to maintain SRO status. All employees shall receive further training as deemed necessary by the Holly Police Department or mandated by the State of Michigan or the United States Government.

Pay and Benefits

With 5 years of previous MCOLES licensed LE experience: Starting pay is $31.63 per hour, with a complete benefits package.
