Assistant General Counsel

Douglas Gutscher comes to POAM from St. Louis , Missouri where he graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Doug obtained his Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law. Mr. Gutscher served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Barry County, Michigan where he caught the attention of POAM and earned the respect of local police officers.

Doug has applied his previous experience wisely as he represents a large portion of members enrolled in the Extended Criminal Protection Plan. Gutscher has experience prosecuting and defending serious felonies, including capital cases along with representing members on every other facet of labor law including but not limited to; unfair labor practices, grievance arbitration, employer and Garrity hearings, etc…

County Corrections Officers Aim to be Included in Public Act 312

POAM has been working with Michigan State Representatives to introduce legislation adding county correction officers to Public Act 312.
