It appears to show a San Diego police officer striking a man during a physical struggle
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Cellphone video that appears to show a San Diego police officer punching a man repeatedly on a Hillcrest sidewalk as two other officers struggled to hold him down has led to an internal investigation, a police administrator said Tuesday.

The 26-year-old witness who shot the video Sunday and provided it to The San Diego Union-Tribune and KGTV, Channel 10, the newspaper’s media partner, said he made it public because “I wanted to make sure this doesn’t become the norm.”

“On the scale of things, this is not that big of an issue, but I want them to address it before it gets bigger,” said the University City resident. He asked that his name not be published, citing concerns for possible police retaliation.
