The Roscommon County Central Dispatch in beautiful Northern Michigan is hiring for a full-time Emergency-911 Dispatcher. With Houghton Lake, Higgins Lake, and Lake St. Helen in your backyard, you can have the opportunity to work where others vacation.

Responsibilities

The Roscommon County Emergency Dispatcher Position handles public safety emergencies and administrative calls. This also includes the responsibility to dispatch for all 23 Law/Fire/EMS Agencies within Roscommon County. Additionally, candidates must possess the ability to quickly and accurately analyze fast-moving information. Candidates must also rapidly formulate effective responses to emergency situations, all while operating multiple computers and communications systems.

Lateral candidates are highly encouraged and welcome! We will honor your experience and skill level to determine your starting point in our training series. Also, your training can be completed faster, based on your individual performance and initiative.

New hires must successfully complete a training program and a 12-month probationary period. The position works various 12-hour shifts, including nights, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements for the Roscommon County Emergency Dispatcher Position

Preferred applicants should currently possess or have the ability to obtain the following within 12 months of starting employment:

  • Basic and Advanced 40-Hour Dispatching courses for the State of Michigan.
  • EMD certified through IAED Priority Dispatch Academy.
  • DeWolf CTO certification (optional, but preferred.)

Wage & Benefits

The wage is determined on experience level at hire date. The base pay is between $16.21 to $21.02, including a night shift pay differential. Benefits will begin on the 1st of the month following 39 days of employment.
