Assistant General Counsel

Chris Tomasi

Assistant General Counsel

Chris Tomasi is an Assistant General Counsel for POAM and its affiliate organizations. Prior to joining POAM, he was an Administrative Law Examiner for the state of Michigan, presiding over parole revocation hearings at the Detroit Re-entry Center. Prior to that, he worked as a general practitioner attorney for 8 years, primarily in the Wayne County court system.

He graduated from Madonna University with B.S. in Criminal Justice in 1994. Shortly thereafter, he began working as a Parole/Probation Officer for the state of Michigan, first in Jackson County for approximately 3 ½ years then working approximately 7 years in Detroit. While working full-time he attended law school and graduated Cum Laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2003.

He has many family and friends who are active and retired police officers, including his brother who retired from the Redford Township Police Department.

A new legislation, Social Security Fairness Act, plans to restore full Social Security benefits for law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other public servants.
