Days of lawlessness and disrespect for our law enforcement officers will be over
The Police Officers Association of Michigan proudly announces our Tudor Dixon endorsement for the 2022 Michigan gubernatorial election.
Tudor Dixon made a personal appearance at the recent Police Officers Association Annual Convention to meet with and speak directly to some of the 12,000 law enforcement members. Each year, POAM honors law notable enforcement officers placed in treacherous situations and selflessly displaying bravery for the public. Notable attendees that participate in honoring public defenders include Senator John James, Justice Richard Bernstein, Honorable Justice Robert P. Young, Jr., and Honorable Kurtis Wilder.
During her visit, Tudor met directly with members and discussed her position if elected as the next governor of Michigan. These included how she felt about the “Defunding the Police” movement and her commitment to making public safety a priority.
POAM Endorses Tudor Dixon
President James Tignanelli met privately with Tudor, stating she is the best Republican candidate, to discuss her positions regarding the challenges law enforcement has faced during Governor Whitmer’s rein. These included Whitmer admitting that she agreed with the “spirit” of defunding the police when asked about the Minneapolis City Council’s decision. Also, concerning for POAM members was Whitmer’s support to end qualified immunity for police officers which would subject them to personal lawsuits on the job and unsealing more police records for the public to “scrutinize” police officers’ decisions.
I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Police Officers Association of Michigan, the largest law enforcement union in the state. Our law enforcement officers work tirelessly to protect our communities and deserve to be supported. In a Tudor Dixon administration, they will.
Gretchen Whitmer said she supported the ‘spirit’ of Defund the Police. She could not be more wrong. I will fund, support, and back the police to ensure we have safe communities where families can live, children can go to school, and businesses can thrive.
The days of lawlessness and disrespect for our law enforcement officers will be over when I am elected. We will return to law and order. I stand unequivocally with our police officers.
