We need a conservative but we are going to get stuck with a moderate.

The Republican party under George Bush clearly demonstrated that the rich are their only concern. When the uber rich are saying they should be contributing more, and the Republicans are fighting and criticizing that, makes it clear that the growth of this nation is second to the growth of their pockets. They are pushing this nation to the next Revolution, all just to have a bigger bank account. he facts pseak clearly for themselves and leave no question as to their agenda.
Mitch Mcconell verbalized hre will fight Pres. Obama on every issue, regardless of what it is. KAnsas House pseaker Mike Oneil prayed publicly for the Presidents death, for which Oneil should be prosecuted. Any honorable country would, silence is support.
Mitt Romney forced healthcare on his state and spoke against Pres. Obama suggesting the same.( I disagree with both) His hypocrisy will be revealed even more as time goes on, and Newt Gingrich is a continuation of Bushism. Ron Paul is gutless, on CNBC he easily stated that personal incomce tax is illegal, but is scared to mention it for fear he will wind up like Herman Cain for presenting 999, which eliminates personal income tax in the second in favor of a consumption tax. Rick Santorum is a closet racist. He doesn’t know that their are more White americans on welfare (a lot of them illlegally) than blacks and denial of education funding in the Black community is partly responsible for the high unemployment in the black community.
The Republican party is responsible for the longest, deeepest recession in American History. They mention nothing but business breaks, which have proven false. Yet they want to give business even more breaks. They fight businesses that use intern programs which will help America transition and they only fight it because President Obama supports it.

    Vote for Romney

No more OBama! Can we afford less police officers? Not to mention All the other stuff he’s pushing through,

  5. Mike Tackett January 26, 2012 at 2:05 pm ·

Not that I am very fond of Obama, but a Republican in office will come after Unions and continue to eliminate our benefits ( Example-Gov Snyder). So any Democrat would be my choice.

  6. Khurum Sheikh January 26, 2012 at 2:19 pm ·

Always amazing to me how most police officers are Republicans and yet Democrats are much more pro-Union. Kind of like all the poor people against the so-called death tax (inheritance tax) that doesn’t kick in until after a million dollars–yet Fox news has them convinced it’s a terrible thing. Needless to say, I like Obama–but only because Ralph Nader’s unavailable. :)

  7. Jeff Chamberlain January 26, 2012 at 2:20 pm ·

Are there any others to vote for. I mean, look we can not do another four years with Obama in office. Newt had the problems when he was Speaker of the House. I’m not sure about the others yet. But we can not repeat the last four years with what we’ve got in office now..

  8. T Stamdfest January 26, 2012 at 2:20 pm ·

Newt will get into Obama’s face when the “debates” come around against him (Obama). Newt will confront Obama with all the problems he is causing. Newt will shed the truth where the other candidates are afraid to.

  9. Bill in TC January 26, 2012 at 3:01 pm ·

President Obama is the only guy who even knows what the streets really look like. And, as a parent with a kid in the military (special ops), his, quiet strategic approach beats the pants off of the chest beaters. I’m not exactly sure what these “problems” are that the pres is causing. But I do recall Bill Clinton putting another 100,000 cops on the road. Anyway, everybody keep safe. And keep an eye on your pensions.

How can any public employee want to back a republican candidate after what has happened in Wisconsin and Ohio in the past couple of years. When public employees realize the republican party is about big business and not the workers we will all be better off. I am wondering why POAM even has to ask which candidate to back. It won’t be long before Indiana is a right to work state and the republicans in Michigan pushing for the same. WAKE UP

  11. Tired of the good ole boy club January 26, 2012 at 4:37 pm ·

After what Snyder has done to public safety in this State I can’t believe that anyone in the POAM would even consider voting Republican. How the hell can someone pass a law that forces me to pay 20% of my health care in a free market society. I WAS a staunch Republican until Snyder decided that he was going to run this State the way he wanted too and if the unions didnt like it….too f-ing bad. Unions typically do not support the Republican party and now he is punishing us for our “insolence”. Vote Democrate

  12. Cary Garton January 26, 2012 at 5:10 pm ·

You cant compare Snyder to Romney or any other in the race. That is very short sighted. That would be like comparing Boxer or Pelosi to Hillary Clinton. Yes, both are Dems but the first 2 are NUTs and not even in the same league.

  13. Anthony Tackett January 26, 2012 at 5:44 pm ·

It’s time for a return to our core constitutional values. Ron Paul IS electable.

  14. Andrew Potter January 26, 2012 at 10:41 pm ·

All of the candidates, with the exception of Ron Paul, are in step with big business and the corrupt banks, follow the money people. Banks and our financial institutions do not want change in the form of regulations and transparency mandates, hence; millions donated to Romney, Gingrich, Obama and other corrupt politicians to ensure the status quo. We can no longer afford the status quo with lying, cheating, and “on the take” politicians. Ron Paul owes no one and the entrenched status quo fear him. Vote Ron Paul for a guaranteed change.

  15. Josh January 27, 2012 at 12:05 am ·

I would hope you would support a republican. Considering that we MI had 8 years of Dems and look what shape we are in. We also have a Dem president and the economy is worse than ever. Besides Liberal judges and politicians make decesions against the police on a constant basis.

About the health care issue brought up, I dont agree with it either but if the state contuinues status quoe as it has for years we will be so far in debt we all wil be out of jobs becasue we will not have a state. business as usual will not and does not work.

If Poam supports Democrates on the sheer basis of a union and they support Democrates I will be forever disappointed.

  16. Josh January 27, 2012 at 12:10 am ·

Also how can Police Officers not be Conservative,. We all see the ills of the handouts the Left does. How many low income homes in your community? How many people do you deal with that are on govt. assistance? I bet a ton. I know I have discussed with other cops about how many people we deal with on a regular basis are on the bridger card etc.

Dems in the supreme court contuinue to take our rights away. I also ask this? For those complaining about the party or how they vote. Have you voiced your opinion to your elected officials? I bet majority would say no. Thats the problem we dont hold them accountable.

Obama care is was the first step to getting our state to put the hard cap in place by the way.

  17. Ron Beggs January 27, 2012 at 1:03 pm ·

For the first time I will vote for a Democrat for president. I will have to hold my nose while doing it. The Republicans have declared war on the working class, including us police officers. I’ve volunteered on many Republican campaigns over the years but I am appalled at the contempt shown towards us by the party that I used to believe in. Obama will get my vote.

  18. TripWire January 27, 2012 at 3:13 pm ·

Ron Paul is the only person running for President that has the cajones to actually stand up for the people and fight for the common man. Dems And the Gop are both corrupt, big business and most unions are corrupt, so what do you have left? We’ve had Bush, Obama and Congress fail miserably so why do most people keep voting the same kind of people in? Something has to change in a big way very soon or we all are in serious troube.

  19. Don from Michigan January 27, 2012 at 10:03 pm ·

I can no longer support the Republican Party. The attacks on public workers have been relentless and no doubt will continue. I was leaning toward Romney until he said he supported prop 3 in Ohio. That was the last straw for me. My parents were Democrats and always told me that the Republicans were no friend to the working man. I did not believe them until now. Sorry Ma and Pops you were right again!

  20. T Stamdfest January 30, 2012 at 8:14 am ·

this guy makes the most sense now.
    anybody but obama

  21. R. Wesch January 30, 2012 at 11:54 am ·

I cant believe so many in Law Enforcement are looking at this in the eyes of Whats best for the Union vs whats best for the future of America. 16 Trillion in debt thanks to these clowns. Since we cant throw them all out, the answer is to vote for the Most Electable Conservative. That being said, I will likely vote for Romney. Not my favorite, but the most electable that can beat Obama. Getting him outa there is first priority. Repealing ObamaCare is second priority. For all you saying you will vote dumbocrat because they are the workin mans friend, just wait till you see your medical benies go down so that all the lazy bottom feeders can come up, will you be still be saying they are your friends??? I think not.

  22. Mike Brooks January 30, 2012 at 3:30 pm ·

Everyone hates to be sick but no one likes the cure. Those who whine about what the “Republicans” have done concerning the Unions and health care etc. might like to pay what the private sector does. We still have a better deal, as Union members. How many of them like their jobs? If the Obama assault continues on the private sector, specifically small business, there won’t be enough employed in the private sector to pay for the public sector’s wages.

  23. Chris January 30, 2012 at 4:10 pm ·

Does it really matter?!!!! This country is ran by lobyists and special interest groups. Just pick whoever you feel is the lesser crook out of the pool.

  24. Adam February 1, 2012 at 6:20 pm ·

Straight Democrat and it hurts to have to be this way but you guys had better WAKE UP! The Republican party is prepared to completely decimate and disband all unions at any cost. Do you REALLY believe that this is the only way to pay down the State and Federal debts, on the backs of the union working class.

I am sorry but I for one am not willing to let some retard come into office and say I make too much money as a Police Officer and can’t have a good benefits package plan to compensate for the job I do. Enough is enough!

Do I like what I see in the Democratic Party on local and federal levels? Hell no I don’t! However I have only one life to live and the thought of losing your home or your way of life and my family and I suffering financially is just too much to have to burden. I will vote for Obama and support unions as conservative as my views are the Republicans do nothing for me, maybe they help your situation as a small business owner? Well that is why you also have a choice when you vote.

  25. Ryan Florios February 9, 2012 at 7:59 am ·

I dont know who POAM should support yet, but one thing is crystal clear. Democrats in charge of Public Safety in both Michigan and Wayne County, have thrown the citizens and the officers that protect them..under the bus.

  26. Dave February 27, 2012 at 4:20 pm ·

I have voted republican my entire life until now. After what Snyder and the State Republicans have done and what they are still trying to do I will be voting democratic.

Like previous posters have stated, how can anyone in law enforcement support the republican party after all they have taken and will take from Police, Fire and education?????

Wake up, the republican party believes the public employee (you and I) are the problem and they also believe we should do our jobs for nothing and like it.

  27. Scott March 7, 2012 at 11:49 pm ·

I could not have said it better myself Dave. Anyone working for the state and local government that votes Republican must be out of their mind. Wake up and vote Democratic if you want to keep your JOB!!!

  28. Linda March 8, 2012 at 8:07 pm ·

How can anyone with a brain think any Republican has the savy to give the POAM the time of day after they get elected. Obama has more smarts in one little toe than all of the Republican candidats combine.

I mean, Hey…. come on! Do you want a good looking Rush Limbaugh running our country. I think NOT.

  29. Mike March 12, 2012 at 11:43 am ·

It really troubles me that my fellow union workers think that voting a Republican into Office is reasonable. Romney has been quoted as saying “I am not affraid of the union! I have taken on union leaders in the past and will do it again” Romney in office will hurt us badly. He is currently trying damage control by making union supporting statements. Don’t be fooled my brothers in blue! I am not in favor of Obama by anymeans, but he is lesser than the other evils. Snyder is already attacking our pensions, why would Romney be any different? He is a business man and business men hate unions!
