POAM Executive Board Meeting Minutes

1.   The March 14, 2008, Executive Board Meeting was called to order by President James Tignanelli.  The meeting was held at the POAM office in Redford, Michigan. 

     Present: Tignanelli, Kuhn, Birdseye, Funke, Radovic, Spidell, Pushee, Beerbower, Griffin, Loftis, Scherer, Zacks, Atkinson, Lewis, Allgeier, LaMontaine, Hochstein.

     Excused: Grabowski, DeVries and Valentine.

2.   President's Report

President James Tignanelli conducted the meeting. Discussion included May seminar at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI on May 21, 2008.

3.   Vice President's Report

Vice President Dan Kuhn presents the following applications to RPOAM:

1.            Bruce Sutler, Canton Twp. Police

Motion by Pat Spidell, seconded by Mark Zacks to approve all to the RPOAM. Carried unanimously.

4.   Secretary's Report

Motion by Tom Scherer, seconded by Gregg Allgeier to accept the minutes of the January 11, 2008 meeting. Carried unanimously.

5.   Treasurer's Report

Motion by Jerry Radovic, seconded by Tim Lewis to approve the Finance Committee meeting minutes of March 13, 2008. Carried unanimously.    

6.   Old Business

     No Old Business.

7.   New Business

A.   Discussion on upcoming seminar to be held on May 21, 2008. Agenda to include: morning session about Social Security and Medicare and EMPCO presented by John Higgins; afternoon session presentation by Frank B. (Maryland PD) topic: active shooting.

B.   discussion on the Poker Run and Cigar Party for Wednesday evening activities. 

C.   Discussion on Convention conference for Thursday daytime.

D.   Discussion on evening entertainment for Thursday evening.

E.   Discussion on golf or fishing event for Friday daytime.

F.   All nominations for Officer of the Year were reviewed by the Awards Committee and presented to the Executive Board.

     1.   Selection of Police Officers of the Year awards were                  voted and approved by the Executive Board.

     2.   Selection of Distinguished Service award were voted                 and approved by the Executive Board.

G.   Office staff meeting and business agent meeting regarding the May seminar.

9.   Motion to Adjourn.

     Motion to adjourn by Tom Scherer, seconded by Gary Pushee. Next Executive Board meeting to be held at the POAM office in Redford, Michigan on April 11, 2008.
