POAM Executive Board Meeting Minutes

1.   The April 11, 2008, Executive Board Meeting was called to order by President James Tignanelli.  The meeting was held at the POAM office in Redford, Michigan

     Present: Tignanelli, Kuhn, Birdseye, Funke, Radovic, Spidell, Grabowski, Pushee, Beerbower, Valentine, Loftis, Scherer, Zacks, Atkinson, Lewis, Allgeier, and LaMontaine.

     Excused: DeVries, Griffin and Hochstein.

2.   President 's Report

President James Tignanelli conducted the meeting.

   Discussion of May seminar to be held at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI on May 21, 2008.

   Retirement of Robert Wines (POAM Business Agent) on May 5, 2008. Congratulations and best of luck.

3.   Vice President's Report

Vice President Dan Kuhn presents the following applications to RPOAM:

1.            Michael St. Andre, Romulus POA

Motion by Wayne Beerbower, seconded by Gregg Allgeier to approve all to the RPOAM. Carried unanimously.

4.   Secretary 's Report

Motion by Tom Scherer, seconded by Dan Kuhn to accept the minutes of the March 14, 2008 meeting. Carried unanimously.

 

5.   Treasurer 's Report

Motion by Scott Atkinson, seconded by Mark Zacks to approve the Finance Committee meeting minutes of April 10, 2008. Carried unanimously.    

6.   Old Business

     No Old Business.

7.   New Business

A.   Discussion of May Seminar to be held at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI. Wednesday daytime seminar to include EMPCO presented by John Higgins, Social Security and Medicare, and the afternoon session on Active Shooters presented by Frank Borelli (see LEJ for further info).

B.   Wednesday evening Cigar Party and Poker Run. 

C.   Thursday discussion of conference and convention.

D.   Friday golf outing and fishing competition.

E.   Loyalty award is presented to David Boljesic.

F.   Discussion of Horses Ass Awards candidates submitted.

G.   Discussion on Wayne Co. Sheriff Local 502.

8.   Legislative Update

     Legislative Director Kenneth E. Grabowski reviewed legislation proposed by Citizens Insurance that creates a new private authority to oversee auto related fraud protection. The Executive Board was provided with a copy of the legislation to make changes, if necessary.

9.   Motion to Adjourn.

     Motion to adjourn by Tom Scherer, seconded by Gary Pushee. Next Executive Board meeting to be held at the POAM office in Redford, Michigan on May 9, 2008.
